there once was a girl with no soul.

why doesn’t she have a soul?

because all her life she was told she wasn’t good enough.

for anyone.

for anything.

she was constantly rejected.

she was unloved.

she learned to hate herself.

and lost her soul.

she became an empty shell of what she could have been.

a nice-looking picture of potential.

an image of beauty filled with decay and rot.

but no one bothered to look deeper.

no one cared.

and so she just faded away.

  1. And those who loved her felt her surge of sorrow,
And the ripping of her soul,
And embraced her, and came beside her.
They reminded her of the magnificence of Spring,
And that Winter, though bitter, was just a season.
That when she felt hollow and empty, that it made space to be filled with new experiences.
They reminded her that not only was she good enough, she was better than enough.
They recalled that beauty had nothing to do with the facade, but a matter of heart.
And most of all, how dearly she was loved and that she was not alone.
